Why choose J.R. Lazaro?

There are a lot of elements that go into building a house: plans, sub-contractors, materials, experience, and craftsmanship. It can be an overwhelming experience – but it doesn’t have to be.

Jack Lazaro started his business in 1959 by building a family home. Today, his family continues his tradition of building custom homes in Indianapolis and throughout Central Indiana. We have a personal relationship with our customers and each person who will work on your home or remodeling project.

We really are a family, building for families.

A family business history

Most custom home builders got their start in some sort of construction business. J.R. Lazaro Builders got our start building a house for our family – in 1959, Jack Lazaro built a house for his sister, Jean, and a family business was born.

Over the next two decades, Jack continued building custom homes throughout the Indianapolis area. In 1974 he bought 79 acres of land adjacent to his first model home and began to develop Shiloh Creek Estates. The development was a success and soon brought recognition as Jack and his daughter Sherry appeared on a cover of Builder/Architect in 1991.

In the 1990s Jack’s sons joined the business full time – John, after graduating with a degree in Environmental Engineering from Purdue University and Paul, after earning a degree in Building Construction and Architectural Technologies from IUPUI.

Today, J.R. Lazaro has earned a variety of awards and recognition for our innovative, high quality and distinguished homes. We invite you to learn more about our family.
